2005.08.08.1125 :: devilverance

wisconsin was totally awesome... rockin road trips with rockin people are the best. i got the rental car at noon on friday and then picked up jes and hit arlington park for a bit of drinking and gambling on the company dime (too bad i had to drive) and then headed up to wisconsin to get our barnwarming on. we made it to the taco john's right before madison when i started to think maybe we shouldn't head all the way through, especially since we hadn't even gone grocery shopping yet and setting up tents in the dark is teh suck.

so instead we got to spend friday night in madison partying with joe and snake eyes from fargo plus jsn111 and madeline, which was wicked. can't really argue with cheap drinks, arm wrestling and foosball. haha.

after the best bloody maries ever courtesy of 111, we headed down to the barn (and picked up some liquor de malt en route). the weather was absolutely perfect, the party was the right size and most of the people i was hoping to see there showed up. jes has some pics up on her photolog.

this weekend was super fun too. friday night i hit the kid606/knifehandchop/eats tapes/stuntrock show at the abbey pub, which was a ton of fun. s. rock two weekends in a row, i'm blessed! the music was much dancier than i expected, which was awesome. maybe this means that idm has finally removed its head from its ass... yeah right.

saturday t. sines showed up and i took him out for some vegan treats and then we hit the beach. i rocked black jeans at the beach... uh, yeah. anyway, i played revibe and then headed over to catch todd at tini. revibe was ok (wicked soundystem, especially) but underattended and tini was a ton of fun. it's weird that they manage to turn it out consistently at a club that i don't think i'd be going to if they weren't doing a night there.

also, yesterday we caught broken flowers and i gotta say i'm a fan. not my favorite jarmusch or bill murray film, but definitely enjoyable and very well-made. i was especially impressed by sharon stone's performance. anyway, see it. and then go see last days with me. i'm not sure if that looks good or not, but i know i have to see it.

and most importantly, the highlight of the last few days has been getting my bike back and riding it as much as possible. god i missed it.

oh, and the other highlight was finding out that i'm playing with sfire this weekend and then dj funk and derek plaslaiko in two weeks. nothing like playing with two of your best friends/people you respect musically and DJ FUNK. haha.

also, the new kano album is the hotness and the r kelly "trapped in the closet" cliffs notes are the hilarious.
