2005.07.22.1127 :: still not a player

i managed to talk j3s and laffey (and by that i mean i said "wanna go to a rave?" "ok.") into going to the geologic festival with me last weekend and it ended up being a ton of fun. i wasn't sure what to expect going into it, but i knew that it would at least be entertaining and i miss taking road trips with cool people, since it's something i used to do almost constantly but really haven't done much since i got rid of my car a few years ago.

something important i realized while talking to jes on the way down is that i really do like doing "dj" sets. i was talking with matt about this as well and we started talking about live 5, which is in beta right now. i wonder how much of an effect that is going to have on the electronic music scene— it seems like they've implemented all the features i've been bitching about wanting for years, which means i really could see it becoming more popular among non-producers than it is now. between auto-tempo-matching and mp3 imports, it basically now just became a dj set in a box, which i guess is both a good and bad thing.

speaking of, i actually worked on some music last night, which is something i haven't done in a while. i guess it's good, though, that i've been focusing on actually getting my records out, making shirts, playing shows, etc... all of the things i didn't bother to do for a long time. i don't have anything done yet, but i hope to get some new tracks up, because i realized the other day that i haven't put a new track up on my songs page in like two years. oops.
